12-year-old lion falls prey to Covid in Chennai zoo

A male lion named 'Pathbanathan (12) passed on because of Covid-19 at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park, prevalently known as Vandalur Zoo, here on Wednesday.

The Vandalur Zoo the executives said in an articulation that the examples of the lion tried positive for SARS Cov-2, according to the report of the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD), Bhopal, imparted on June 3. From that point forward, the lion was under serious consideration.

Recently, a nine-year-old lioness named 'Neela' had kicked the bucket in light of Covid in a similar zoo.

After that the in-house veterinary group of the zoo had gathered the blood tests, nasal/rectal swabs and fecal examples of 11 lions, which were sent for testing to the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS), and NIHSAD.

According to the lab test results outfitted by the organization, the examples of nine lions out of the 11 sent had tried positive for SARS CoV-2.
